A Dried Flower Wedding
The benefits of dried wedding flowers
C & M were due to get married in Scotland and loved the idea of dried florals for their wedding day. C particularly loved the longevity and sustainability aspect of using dried flowers. We chatted through the colour scheme, options for the bridal party and wedding breakfast decorations. The theme was vintage boho with a Scottish twist.
We incorporated Eryngium Thistles in the bouquets and buttonholes representing Scotland in their special day which also included Lavender, Eucalyptus, other dried green florals and a touch of white. Each of the bridesmaids held a dried flower posy wrapped in ivory silk ribbon which complemented their sage green dresses. For the bridal bouquet we included a beautiful sage green silk ribbon which complemented the colour theme. C’s grandmother’s brooch was attached to the ribbon which was a lovely acknowledgement to something borrowed.
They opted for jars and bottles full of dried flowers for their tables which were easy for them to transport and place on tables when they arrived at their venue. Each of the table decorations were given to guests to take home as a keepsake. Dried flower accessories can become lasting thoughtful gifts for the people involved in the wedding.
The couple also had a lovely vintage basket full of dried petals which was used for their confetti.
The benefits of using dried flowers for their wedding were:
They were able to use a florist of their choice.
Flowers could easily be transported to their chosen venue/destination.
The flowers have longevity, they will last for a long time following their wedding day.
Light in weight to hold and transport.
They can be reused and repurposed, creating lasting keepsakes for themselves and their guests.
Using dried flowers set a relaxed tone to the day.
You can go as small or as big as you like with your dried flower decorations. Some ideas are floral runners, centrepieces, vases full with dried blooms all around your reception space, wreaths or hoops hanging on the doors or suspended flower arrangements above your tables. Depending on the season, location and how adventurous you are, the options are endless.
